Fourth of July in Bonavista, Newfoundland

July 4, 2017  Tuesday  Happy 4th of July!!

Celebrating the 4th of July in Canada is not exactly festive.  We will enjoy anyway.  We drove to Bonavista, a town at the end of the peninsula.  We took the long way and it was the best.  As we were driving up the hills and around the curves you could see water all around.  Once I thought I saw a huge white tent…maybe for some event.  The closer we got we saw it was an iceberg!  First one to see!!  We drove until we discovered the little town of Tickle.  Just off the harbor was a large iceberg.  Of course, we took lots of pictures.  Bonus it was a brilliant day.  We walked down to the dock and there was a good size iceberg just off the dock.  Took more pics.  Having just about all of Tickle we kept on our way to Bonavista.  When we arrived we found the visitor’s center.  Two young men were working there and we got a map…a few lines scribbled on a piece of paper.  First stop, lunch.  We drove across the street to a little café.  I had macaroni and cheese (I think those were pimentos mixed in).  I didn’t want to ask…if they told me they were cod tongues that would be the end of it.  Yes, lots of the cafes have cod tongues on their menu.  I haven’t order that yet and don’t really plan to.
