On our way to the Ferry

JUNE 26, 2017  MONDAY

Looks like a beautiful day to travel.  We will be leaving Shubie Park this morning and driving all the way to North Sydney, NS.  We have reservations at Arm of Gold RV Campground which is just minutes from the ferry port.  We said goodbye to our “close” neighbors and got on the road.  We are taking Trans Canada Highways all the way.  Shubie Park is not too far from the 102 which connects to the 104 and finally meets the 105 to North Sydney.  No trouble traveling at all.  Traffic is amazingly light which I love.  Saw lots of other motorhomes and trailers traveling north and south.  A caravan of motorhomes passed us heading to Halifax.  I wonder if they were coming from Newfoundland.

We don’t see many billboards on the side of the road.  The few we may see are a waste of money because they are tucked into thick trees.  Such a beautiful drive…up and down hills and around curves through the valleys and occasional water views.  We crossed over a large bridge which was unbelievably narrow…just two lanes.  Jim made it across with no problem but I tried looking straight ahead so as not to pull us down into the water below.  Many of the exits are not really exits like we know them.  They are just turns.  Our campground is at exit 18 off 105 which is a signal light and right turn.  The campground is very large with grassy sites.  The campground is wide open right next to a waterway to the ocean.  Lovely views with a sky that goes on forever.  Jim and I went down to the two wooden chairs facing the water and enjoyed a beer later in the day.

Motorhome at Arm of Gold Campground
We drove down to the ferry after setting up camp and having lunch.  We like to know what we are looking for before we drive the motorhome down for departure.  Everyone was so nice.  We ended up at the kiosk to check in to board.  When Jim told her we were not sailing until Wednesday she said we were early.  She gave us lots of information about when to come and what we needed to get on the ferry.  Everyone we’ve met has been so nice.  We drove through North Sydney to find fuel for the motorhome.  We will make a stop there before boarding the ferry.  Also found the local Wal-mart to pick up some things.

The sky started clouding up and we got some hard rain on our way back to the campground.  It stopped soon enough for Jim and I to relax in those chairs soaking in the views and enjoying some beer and conversation.  We could hear two young boys playing in the water nearby.  A beautiful way to end the day.  Tomorrow we will do some touring around the area.
